For those thinking of moving to (or from) Fresno, CA, I compiled this list of rankings. Fresno ranks poorly at pretty much everything that matters. No wonder Conan mocks it.

Fresno is the 29th most expensive metro area (out of 361) in the U.S. according to Kiplinger (Updated July 2012)

But you don't get what you pay for. Instead, you get a bunch of worsts:

1. High Average Summer Temperature (June, July, August)

Month Low High
Jun 61.2°F 90.9°F
Jul 66.1°F 96.6°F
Aug 64.9°F 94.8°F

Summer average: 94.1°F

2. Very Poor Air Quality

Fresno has the 5th worst air quality in the US.

3. Extremely High Unemployment

Fresno ranks #366 of 372 cities. (In other words, 6th worst unemployment.)

Source: Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas

4. Bad Drivers

Fresno gets a D- grade and is #72 out of 100 (or 18th worst overall).

5. High Crime

Fresno high crime too:

The Fresno, CA violent crime rate is 64% greater than the California average and 100% greater than
the national average.

The Fresno, CA property crime rate is 73% greater than the California average and 75% greater than
the national average.

Overall, the Fresno, CA crime index is 72% greater than the California average and 78% greater than
the national average.

Yeah. It's cheap. Sort of like Stockton, Bakersfield, and Modesto.

Did Fresno hit on your wife at a bar or something? Who cares if it's lame? Are you actually trying to be helpful or just trying to take a dump on a place?
