Lompoc used to be a pretty town with lots of nature. Now it is over built and congested with gang problems.

The weather all over coastal California is lousy in my opinion. Cold, damp, foggy windy. Yuck.

But at least in Lompoc, you had the beautiful scenery to distract you from the horrible weather.

So why not scrap those towns and aim for a job in Florida? Going to the beach here does not involve fog and seaweed.

Ok redbirdny,
just answered your post about Lompoc on the other thread. I have to say
you must be getting some bad info about Lompoc. It is NOT overbuilt,
and congested with gangs. That is just a big LIE. Sorry, I live here and
Ive never seen any of that.

And I now know you live in Florida. No thanks. Nuff said.

Default &

Wow I wasn't trying to hurt anyone and certainly not you. I gather that you did not grow up in LPC. It was a way different town back than. As far as gangs, yes they are there. One of my best friends who was a teacher had been checking on a student of his who lived in the hood and was nearly killed by a gang member.........my friend's son averted that. There are numerous instances like that which were brought to my attention. It was not always like that nor was it the overbuilt place it is now.

I am pretty much used to how CA residents view Florida. Many liken it to a third world country. Others automatically think Miami with all its attendant problems. I am not sure which visualization you have for Florida.

Again I was not out to offend anyone.

I am not offended. No problem. As I said before, my husband grew
up in Lompoc. Hes really never said much about how it used to be.
As for Florida, didnt mean to sound like I was talking bad about it,
I would have only 3 beefs with Florida, and thats the humidity, heat, and
hurricanes. The 3 Hs. Oh and no mountains. Other than that Im sure
its a fine place to live. I know its more affordable. My son and wife are
stationed at Eglin AFB there. They do complain about the 3 Hs.

Default The Weather in Santa Ynez, Solvang

What is the difference in weather between Solvang/Santa Ynez, SLO, and Santa Barbara? Is one colder than the other in winter, or warmer in summer? How hot/cold can one expect in each town? I am especially interested in the Solvang/Santa Ynez area.

Hi
I will try to answer your question,as I live in Lompoc, not too far from
those places. For Solvang and Santa Ynez, they can get quite hot
in the summer.Santa Ynez more so, I have seen it get in the high
90s there. Solvang gets around that temp too. And it does get
a bit colder there in the winters too. It freezes there. But no snow
or anything too severe. Not sure on SLO temps for summer, but I
think its a bit warmer than here or Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara
has similar weather to Lompoc, but a bit nicer! We stick out farther
on the coast than they do. Winters in Santa Barbara and SLO are
mild. The coastal weather here is very changeable, but one constant
is its never too extreme. Solvang and Santa Ynez are more inland and
make for more extreme temps. HTH

Maybe someone actually living in those towns will chime in.

Deb

Thanks, I really would like to know more. Are there any fruit orchards around Santa Ynez / Solvang? Warmer/colder would be a good thing, but not as hot as Paso Robles.

On the way out to Solvang through Buellton there are grape
vines and a winery. Not sure about orchards. It really does get
pretty warm over there. Today its almost 80 here in Lompoc,
and Im feeling a little too warm. Google weather for
those areas and see what temps are like yr round. I wonder
if its hot over there today? Are you planning a move to that area?

It does look nice in that area. I would like to find a spot that's got enough chill for a few low-chill apples and cherries, without being too hot. For me, that would be over 110* more than a month or so. I don't care how cold it gets, as long as my gas bill isn't half the mortgage.

SLO and Arroyo Grande seem to have it all. But the Solvang/Santa Ynez area has better terrain, imo.

Yes I agree. It is so pretty out there in Santa Ynez. But SLO and AG
are nice as well. Decisions eh?
