Thanks so much, I doubt I'll be going East, I never know I suppose, but going to stick pretty close to home, lots to do there, and I traveled most of my life, tired of it Just want to be "home sweet home"

What brings you to Lakeport, OP?

I wanted to retire to a neat town, so I looked and looked and found Lakeport.

It's also good you chose the 'better' side of Clear Lake (although the 'other side' is slowly improving)!

I have friends in Lakeport so I got a heads-up. I heard it is getting a bit better over there too, but my main reason for chosing Lakeport was the fact I have friends there, a retired couple that absolutely love it I know no place is perfect, but I am mostly excited about the small town, lots of seniors, which I am one, and the activities. I heard Lakeport is on of the last towns they still have "all horse" parades I'm assuming they have riders, LOL!!

I like people, all kinds of people, so I will enjoy meeting new folks, and will I have a lot of new opportunities for photographs. I'm just amateur, and mostly into macro, or night light/evening shots. Blah blah blah

Thanks again everyone

Good to hear you have friends there, so you will be given a realistic picture of the area. And for Lake Co. Lakeport is a good choice. Be warned that Lake Co. as a whole is not that great. But...do check out the Mendocino Nat'l Forest to the north. Middletown and Cobb to the south and...Calistoga in the north end of the Napa Valley. Kelseyville is another good spot. Nice ain't so nice. The towns along HWY 20 are basically dumps. To the west, Ukiah is OK. I was there in September and I asked myself if I was the only person NOT smoking dope. Hopland is a nice wine town.

Good luck with your move!
