Its a nice small city. Friendly people, good shopping and dining, good medical care. Not to mention the university. Because of that real estate is higher (by about 1/3) than other towns in this part of California.

Did you end up visiting Chico, how did you like it? Redding is starting to look like less of an option, and Chico more of one.

The summertime temperatures will be a bit lower in the People's Republic of Chico then Redding. Job will depend on what one is qualified for.
