I am German and I moved three months ago to Travis AFB in Fairfield CA with my American military husband.

I have a Master degree and a Bachelor and over 16 years of working experience in the upper Management level. I was wondering if anybody could recommend a excellent employment or recruiting agency. I am searching the net since I got here, but couldn't find anything suitable.

I would appreciate any help!

Silke

Default Did you post your resume?

Hi,

Did you post your resume on monster or career builder? It does not hurt to put yourself out there and, check those sites everyday for position offers. I don't know too much of your area, but I think the best way is actually to go directly to prospective employer's website, make a cold call and suggest emailing them your resume (to find prospective employers, just go to google and type in, say general contractors in Fairfield, CA. You will get a list with company's websites). Unfortunately, you have to be pretty aggressive here in US in order to accomplish anything. Since I am European as well, I speak from painful experience.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. Yes I posted my resume on the mentioned websites and I am searching the net everyday. I am hoping for some decent job fairs in the upcoming months as this might help as well. I am new to calling the companies directly, but guess that should be my next step. How did you ended up finding a job??

I'm in the process of trying to relocate to CA so I can relate. My problem is that many won't even look at me, even though I'm very experienced and have a great resume, just because I'm in Minnesota right now. Very frustrating!

I'd also check out dice.com, if you're looking for anything in the technical arena. There seems to be a LOT more postings there than on Monster in my line of work and the apply process is much simpler than with Monster.

Good luck!
