Hello all,

We are looking for a place near national forests or BLM lands or horseback riding trails, preferably rural with lower cost of living than the cities in Cali. I work from home and need high speed Internet for that. Our target price range is $400-$450K. We want some acreage, ideally 10+ acres. Is this doable in Cali? If so, where?

Thanks!

Default Doable?

In a word, yes, pretty much anywhere outside of the SF Bay Area and Los Angeles. Please give us more specifics regarding weather preferences, location near airports or other amenities, medical needs, suburban v. rural settings, etc.

The first thoughts that entered my mind were for far northern CA, such as Redding/Shasta County, Weaverville/Trinity County, Yreka/Siskiyou County. But once we have more info, we can give you better recommendations.

Ah, OK. Weather preferably nicer/warmer but if I can get 5 times the acreage somewhere colder (not too cold!), acreage would take precedence. Rural setting preferred to city, however, really looking to something that is within an hour to hour and a half of a large town/small city with decent services/medical/hospital. No school requirements since we have no kids. What else? Thanks!

For example, how about Fresno county? Specifically, Auberry, CA?

Amador county. Lots of land and horses. 1 hour to sacramento. Within your budget. Very rare snow. Close to wineries!
