I always think of them as dusty. The cities also seem to be really random. For example, in Phoenix you'll be driving down the street and the order will be: vacant lot of dirt and cactus, La Quinta Inn Hotel, small half acre vacant lot, long walled in subdivision, gas station, vacant lot, etc..... I don't know, the cities just don't seem well planned out IMO. Also, the heat is a problem and I don't like seeing as much brown dirt as I do green trees (although it is all artificial here). Las Vegas, well it just seems like the place Californians go to play, nothing more.

You could say that same thing about most of LA and parts of OC too. Costa Mesa is good at that. There it goes 6 unit strip mall, 4 plex, 4 plex, ghetto apartments, Jiffy Lube, million dollar house. Santa Ana is even worse when you have an auto body shop on a residential street.
