thank you!
Securing a border is easy. Fences, different levels of fences based on terrain including technological fences in some areas, other types of monitoring, etc. It will cost a lot, but in the long run it will be cheaper. Plus it will be a great jobs plan, getting Americans back to work and substantially limiting the drug trade.

We can start with Mexico as that is where the majority of illegals are entering. This plus actually deporting people when found and heavily penalizing employers will be effective.

yes build high tech fences, post guards every 6 feet blah blah blah. and yes, that is much easier than pushing the politicians out of office who protect employers from prosecution, huh? The way to stop drug trafficking is to end the failed war on drugs. The way to stop illegal border crossings is to throw every single employer who hires an undocumented person in prison for at least 5 years AND seize their assets..that would happen maybe twice before employers got the message.

The title is now CA wants to give illegals healthcare and other benifits. It should read Now Democrats want to give illegals healthcare and other benifits.

This would only work if you deported the parents of anchor babies, or better yet, got rid of birth right citizenship to non citizens.

Instead of working they would just stay on the dole since their kids are citizens and get benefits.

I am all for harsh punishment to employers who knowingly or should have known and hire illegals, but a multifaceted approach would work the best.

nonsense, most people with "anchor babies" are working full time and have been for years. I lived in Reno which has a large hispanic population and I sure didn't see a lot of them on welfare, most worked every day, sometimes 2 jobs. They were quiet and stayed to themselves, they aren't part of the problem, they are the casualties of our 'program' of allowing employers all the cheap labor they wanted in order to bring wages down for everyone and then turning around blaming the people who came here for those jobs. Brilliant move wasn't it?

The people with anchor babies are working illegally, that is why they are called anchor babies. They work under the table for cash then get welfare to support the child.

The cheap labor that is being imported is what is keeping wages low. That is why both parties will not do anything about it. It sure would be great to get the millions of Americans in those jobs. Eventually he wages in those jobs will rise as labor becomes harder to find.

The people complaining about illegals are not the ones doing the hiring.

All I ask is the laws put in place be Enforced and those wanting to come to this country fallow the proper laws and regulations. On a side note, the immigration process could be streamlined as well.

That is a complete assumption on your part and adds nothing to the discussion

I was not aware people were issuing 1099's when picking up a day laborer from Home Depot or when paying cash for other services.

Let's at least not keep our heads in the sand by pretending this isn't happening.

Here is a little interesting recent news story that is somewhat related to our current conversation about illegal immigration

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a man arrested after a high-speed chase in Pinal County is a native of Mexico who has been deported 20 times.
