He was recently in L.A. talking to local business people...bashing California's taxes, the recent strike at the ports of L.A. and Long Beach, etc.

Aside from well-publicized moves like Toyota relocating to Texas, businesses really don't move from one State to another very much. It just doesn't seem like something a Governor needs to be doing with his or her time (flying to other States and meeting with a couple hundred people). Surely there are lots of issues in Florida that he can concentrate on.

Florida's already drawing the porn industry away from California.

Florida really could get some bigger industries - what if Florida starts drawing tech away from California? There's the large pool of diverse international talent there which also exists in California, plus lower costs, saner fiscal policies, and a more business friendly environment.

What's Florida's water situation like?

Yup, Florida has low pay so it will save California company's boat loads on labor if they relocate.

Florida is a miserable swamp except on the coasts, where it is just a swamp. It will all be underwater in 80 years anyway. No respectable company is going to relocate to that sandbar.

Bad schools/education
sweltering heat
a heavily grayed population
only one class-B and one class-C world cities.

Pass.

I've been to Florida and enjoyed it, but I'm certainly not jealous. People can live wherever they want, and locate their business wherever they want.

I just don't understand how it benefits Florida to have their Governor fly across the country to meet with a couple hundred businessmen so he can bash California for its taxes, labor strikes, housing costs, etc.

Color me confused.

He's doing his job. Which to help the people of his state by encouraging companies to move to Florida, which will result in more jobs and taxes coming in.

What you call "bashing" is simply the truth. California DOES have high taxes, housing costs and labor strikes that impact businesses. I believe Brown is in DC right now. How does that benefit CA to have him fly across the country?

Tax revenue is how flordia benefits. You might have seen new yorks recent TV add offering 10 years without taxes to any business that moves from another state.

And they say high taxes doesn't hinder business.

You are wrong when you say that companies are not moving out of California in large numbers.
