Irvine is a little too pre-planned and cookie-cutter to be like the WC/Alamo/Danville imo.

Thousand Oaks area is a better comparison to that area of the 680 corridor but I don't think they have the downtown scene that WC has or even a nice little one like Danville.

Pasadena's downtown reminds me of WC but its an older suburb with more classic style housing.

I kind of feel like Carlsbad to Del Mar could be somewhat of a coastal SoCal version of that area.

Corona Del Mar certainly has it more so than Carlsbad and probably more than Del Mar; CdM is also a seaside town.

Different but charming, is Solvang.

San Juan Capistrano is a bit similar too.

Corona Del Mar is really too dense and tightly packed to be like any of those places really and the price per square foot is MUCH higher too.

I consider the Conejo Valley and Thousand Oaks to be one of the most scenic suburbs of LA but it lacks a downtown. Orange County is totally ruined by overdevelopment.

Walnut Creek reminds me of Pasadena, both the downtown areas and housing appearance. For Danville and Alamo, I cannot think of any towns which resemble towns in SoCal.

I think Pasadena is spot on.
