And it has a lower murder rate than Stockton and Oakland and is only slightly higher than Sacramento or San Francisco. Unless you're running with the Nortenos or Surenos you really don't have much to fear. As far as overall violent crime its lower than those four other cities.

I don't care if Fresno has a lower murder rate, quality of life is still far greater in Oakland and Sacramento.
