Default No Nino

I live in Portland Oregon and I was hoping for a mild winter with el Niño. December has been the 3rd wettest on record here, rain every day, with floods and landslides. so hurry up and get here el Niño.

I am going to move southern Cali to get away fro this nasty weather

Silver lining for OR - their drought is essentially over.
Well, apparently its doing what was expect according to this weather blog. Dry fall, transitional December and all signs pointing to a very wet January, February and March.

And now the SuperBowl could be impacted by El Nino.

El Niño Threatening to Put a Damper on Super Bowl 50 | NBC Bay Area

Our local mountains are covered in snow; more storms are on the way.

Thus far, El Nino has delivered. Will it impact the Super Bowl too?

Thank me later for cutting through all the hype and clickbait BS foisted by all the MSM sites.

Here's reality.

As prog'ed, the jet has split.

The ridging will gradually come to dominate for most of the state, only the northern-most areas will still have the polar branch - the subtropical branch is now way down by Cabo. Sorry folks, that means no subtropical taps for whichever fronts make it over the the ridge.

After one more OK front the next couple of days, things will regress to a diminishing series of weaker and weaker fronts.

It is possible that after next week the storm door will close for CA.

For how long? Who knows.

This would not be good.
