While it's not the worst area of Bakersfield, the area has seen more crime in recent years. My parents bought their first home in that neighborhood many years ago, but eventually moved our family further west for better schools. The area does have some really old craftsman bungalow style homes, that are very cool. But overall, the area just isn't what it used to be.
