Yeah, it's not on the top of my list of concerns either.
And it actually never bothered me until i started hanging out on the ca forums ... why, i do not know.

I never heard the term "Cali" used until I started visiting this forum. What surprises me is how upset people get over the use of that moniker. Doesn't bother me in the least, and I was born in Cali.

I never realized how odd it is to call California "Cali" until I moved to Chicago. A lot of my new friends do say "Cali". I know I say SoCal and NorCal... and am probably guilty of saying Cali once in my life, but it just sounds so weird now that you mention it.

Aren't there some Snoop Dogg songs that say "Cali" or more specifically "killa kali"? LOL

Yeah, the young people who are so easily and readily sucked in by the dominant, consumer driven culture and who are such sheeple and so unoriginal that they are unconsciously compelled to mimic media driven hip hop icons.

Being truly future oriented has nothing to do with how old you are but rather, where your head is at ... how awake and conscious you are of what's going on around you, how creative and original you are, how capable of new vision you are and to what extent you are aware that if you don't extricate yourself from the media (in all but a few of its manifestations) your future will be determined by that aforementioned dominant culture that will lead you, like lambs to slaughter ... 'cause you're so incredibly brainwashed and with no objectivity about how you've been duped.

Back to "Cali" ... Unless you're coming out of the culture where the term originated (and where the people who use it don't sound like idiots), you're just another parrot.
Context is key.

(just a different perspective ... no big deal)

I know plenty of natives who call it Cali and I have plenty of 4th generation San Franciscan friends that call it Frisco. In fact most of the people I know from SF call it Frisco, it's usually the yuppie transplants who get mad, but would never correct somebody to their face, they just run to the net to complain.
