Correct. Nor to we say "the OC" although simply "OC" is common and acceptable. Saying Cali, the OC, or Frisco marks you as a noob to California.

Wow... I'm 3rd generation here in So. Cali. and I call it that all the time. Wonder if that marks me as a "newb". Highly doubt it since the roots of my family run deep in this state.http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/canibeyou/shrug.gif (broken link)

Carry on!

Me too, I'm a native (3rd generation as well) and I call it Cali all the time. Even my adult kids do too so there!

We've been here 5 or 6 generations and I've never actually heard someone seriously use the term "Cali". I've heard it in song and in jokes about the lower classes but never heard anyone use it with a straight face. If I did, I think I would think they weren't from California.

Yep. I don't know anyone IN California that says "Cali" but I see people on the Internet from other places use it almost exclusively.

This is the only forum I have ever heard the word "Cali". I have never heard it once uttered elsewhere.

Try mis-spelling a different state and someone will hunt you down.
