Oh every time I point out that we need more diversity in our immigration numbers I get called a racist. WTH, wasn't this country built on diversity? How is desiring equality in our immigration numbers rather than favoring one specific group, racist? I don't care what groups we start to introduce or are given a larger share of our quotas just as long as it is equal to the others. Of course we shouldn't allow in immigrants that are culturally opposite to us, don't share our values or refuse to assimilate in our society. But that's a given isn't it?

Too much immigration from one group results in colonization rather than assimilation and dilutes our identifying culture and that is what we are seeing today.

This California board is curious in its obsession with racial topics like no other forum.
Unfortunately it isn't just the California board.

If I ever move it will not be as the place is too brown, rather it will be a matter of costs. Plus I would like to live for some time in a small town. Certainly at the end of my life, a small classic American town with flags fluttering, wooden store fronts, football games and BBQs.

Don't mean to beat a dead horse.... but from "best to worst" is just terrible wording.

I dunno about the assimilation part.

All the born and raised Hispanics I know speak english and without the atrocious accent you hear from the Scots Irish in places like Alabama or South Carolina.

They work hard. They pay taxes. They drive pickup tucks. They drink beer. They watch sports. They are overweight. Some of their women are smoking.

So I don't know how much more assimilation you want from them. The FOB illegals are another issue.

I wonder what the "test" for this would be?

There are innumerable such places gracing our vast country.

Yes, many Hispanics do know how to speak English but they don't want to unless they have to. I don't care if they speak English with an accent just that they speak it when they can but they prefer Spanish out in public nearly always. Part of assimilation is respecting our immigration laws. The majority of them think their ethnic group should be above them and rewarded for breaking them. If they can't respect our laws, language and culture then they aren't assimilating.

Your post is a classic example of how people misdefine racism as a function of color. The assumption is that "our" white culture is the one and true culture to which all should conform, eh? No other language, beliefs and traditions qualify as having validity in "our" white world.

You can be black, brown, red, yellow, green, or purple as long as you think and act "white"! Roflmao.
