People can dream.

I can't see how it sold at 1.5 let alone nearly 2 million. 2 million gets you 3000 sq feet with ocean view, 1 block or less from the ocean in OC. That area of Los Angeles is nice, but street traffic is hell and its subject to property crimes. Unless its a jewish thing(they have to live within walking distance of synagogue), I can't imagine someone paying 2 million for a 2300 sq ft home built in 1924.

Similar homes in a safer area(Rancho Park) very close by are in the 1.3-1.7 million range.

According to this article--in L.A., at least--we're not in a housing bubble.

Is L.A. in another real estate bubble? - LA Times

You MUST buy NOW or you will be priced out FOREVER!

It's different this time. Prices still have a long long long way to rise. You don't want to be stuck renting for the rest of your life do you?

Look at how many disgruntled would-be buyers there are already complaining about just rent. Just wait until they ascend to where they should be.....I'm thinking that an average of $4800/studio as an average is about fair. Add $1000 for every bedroom after that. With annual increases of about 25%. You don't want to get stuck in that now do you? Lock in your hedge against these rent increases. Buy your dream home today!

It's just the price that needs to be paid for the privilege of owning a piece of the worlds finest city. Everyone knows that LA is world renowned for its nice weather, tasty fish tacos, Mongolian art museums, and stigma-free interracial dating. LA is the worlds Sangri-La and we all know it. Why do you think it's both as popular and pricey as it is? Don't be one taking potshots from a distance when we secretly know you wish you were a part of it. It isn't too late. Join in and be a part of it.*

*this entire post and the one of mine that preceded it is/are total tongue-in-cheek, satirical, sarcastic BS. They would be funny if there weren't so many people that actually believed it.

Des, if you had bought in Orange County in 2009 instead of leaving, I imagine you would be singing a different song

So how much is a 7 unit apartment building in that area worth, a 71 unit building recently sold for $23,000,000?
