One of the worst parts of 350 was stripped out the reducing the amount of gas we can use. Can you imagine being forced by the goverment to use 1/2 the gas you use now. You can't go places you want badly to go to. Cant do things you want to do Remember the.gas lines in the 70's?
Democrats are a religious cult when its the enviroment their absolutely nuts, it is their religion and their fanatics about it.
Moron Brown thinks Calif. would lead the whole world into climate change. The idiot ignores that no matter what Calif.Democrats do to destroy our ecomony it will only effect the enviroment by 1%.
In Browns press conference he was shouting and if anyone ever wondered if he is a fool he removed all doubt.

I am glad this was shot down. I don't need the government tracking my car movement.

If brown is worried about the roads then he should stop differ eying the various gas taxes and fees that go to pay for the roads into the general fund to support the democrats other pet projects.

Every other state is able to have a functioning transportation system with lower vehicle fees and lower gas taxes, maybe brown should look at spending and efficiencies instead of sticking it to the middle class again and again.

While I agree with you re many Ds being so wedded to green ideology that nothing else matters, credit where credit is due. It was a group of "moderate" Ds in the Assembly, who, primarily concerned about the cost, stood their ground. They deserve our thanks.

Keep your powder dry, though. This will be back on Sacramento's front burner sooner rather than later.

That particular item was rather unnecessary. The goal was supposedly to reduce gas usage by half by 2030. In 15 years, increased fuel economy and increased use of EV's (or other alternative fuel vehicles) will probably reduce gas usage by half (or more) anyway.

Then they will raise the gas tax again as less fuel bought means less gas tax paid (Used for everything but the roads) and ................. welcome to CA living.

Fortunately I drive an EV so I guess I can look forward to higher registration fees and/or a mileage tax.

Tough to deal with the facts that the federal (and state) government here cleaned up the air thanks to regulations, that it could be even cleaner and that would be a good thing for everyone, that global warming is real and caused by humans, that it can be fixed with much less cost than conservative anti government wackballs say, and that SB 350 was one of many good ways to accomplish this. Another way will be found.

Every single time a regulation is proposed, people cry "It will RUIN us!!!" And it never does. Never does. Clean Air Act was going to destroy the economy. Requireing catalytic converters was going to ruin the industry. Cleaning acid rain was going to destroy the industry. The ACA was going to ruin the county. Again and again. It would be funny if real lives weren't at stake.

Facts are tough things for the radical anti-government conservative mind to grasp, because they're raised on Fox News and tallk radio, where up is down and water isn't wet.

Don't worry, though, the do-nothing, let-big business rule-anti-government side always loses in the long run.

All the people that lose their job have been ruined by regulation. All the business that don't start because of the regulatory environment. Sure would have been nice if the tesla plant opened here instead of Nevada, would have been hundreds if not thousands of high paying jobs, guess why they didn't open here? Yes that is right, regulation.

Not every regulation is needed. Sometimes some critical thought is needed instead of "I like clean air, they say this will make air clean, therefor this regulation is needed.

Clean air regulation was needed, I do recall LA in the 70s, but you cant just take that stance that ALL regulation/fees/oversights are good. Some are useless, some are redundant and they never go away even if they are supposed to be temporary. And while the air is cleaned up in the bay area, how is the cost of living? Highest in the nation?
I actually have a covered california plan, do you? They are awful, I do not recommend.

Aye. But you gotta admit, its heartwarming to see the plucky oil lobby finally catch a break.
