I think the U-turner also has a right to be sure there won't be any problems with people making right hand turns. I believe the law says they can do what they were both doing - provided it was safe to do so. I don't think one of them gets to willy nilly make a U-turn without having to watch for right-turn people.

I'll see if I can find info on the DMV website. But, I think this is an example of why there are two lawyers in a courtroom :-)

Yeah it was really weird. My thinking is why would anyone make a u-turn there. I mean there was a 4 way lane stop light couple feet before him, he could have just used that. I would assume most people would make a left to go into the mall, but nope he makes a u-turn. I feel like this could cause lots of accidents, they should change it to left turn only.
