Hey folks, have an opportunity to take my son to tourney in Cooperstown this summer and was wondering about what to expect. Lodging, transportation and any insights on your experiences would be appreciated. Was the trip worth it. Thoughts on lodging in downtown vs surrounding area? Flight to what airport???

Yeah, I get New York....but I am looking for some perspective from those out "west" that have made the trip. I know there are many teams/families that have made the trip to there from CA.......

I'm from California, and have visited Cooperstown and the surrounding area a number of times. I gave you my thoughts on a place to stay in the New York forum.

In terms of flying, the closest airport is Albany. It's an hour or so drive from there. However, you might find it more convenient and less expensive for a family to fly into one of the NYC metro airports (Newark, JFK, Laguardia) and drive from there. Plan on 3.5 to 4 hours driving time from those airports. But, it is a scenic drive, and you could tack on a day or two in the NYC area to take the kids to some of the sights there.
