It's beautiful. It's cheap. It's wet. It's never too hot or too cold. It's in the boonies. There's nothing to do except enjoy nature and rain. The only jobs are low paying retail jobs. It has the highest amount of domestic violence in ...something. People have no problem with you having your dog off-leash at local parks and beaches for the most part. it's right on Hwy 101 so when you need to get out of Dodge, it's easy. There's hardly any traffic and minimal wait at the DMV and other offices. Hardly any homeless. Not much in the way of shopping, unless you're into Walmart. Dinky farmer's market from around June to October. Crabbing season is closed right now due to some toxin in the crabs.

Hope that covered it.

And some of us think it's a hellhole. Read all the comments, then visit, THEN consider moving. Good luck.

I should add an explanation of my description of Crescent City being beautiful - by that I mean the surrounding scenery. the town itself lacks charm, because the tsunami in the 1960's destroyed almost all of the old Victorian buildings.

My neighbor recently moved to CC from San Diego. She told me today she had to laugh about the DMV office in CC. She went in without an appointment to register her car. They were helping #24. She went to get her ticket and it was #28. When she got called up, the DMV clerk looked all stressed out and exclaimed that they were soooo busy on Mondays!

True story.
