Much of the charms of SoCal and LA are long gone, but it' so immense you can still find your little pocket of happiness.

San Francisco and the Bay Area never had an inferiority complex with LA and SoCal, rather it's envious of the glamorous and beautiful people of the Southland, always has been, but increasingly less so than ever.

Sacramentans could care less what SF and LA think, but it has to because it is the Capital. Sacramento plays nice with the entire state.

Really? You think that S.F. and bay people are envious of the "glamorous and beautiful people of the Southland ..... "?
I can't tell if you're being serious or not. If you are, oh dear.

How should I put this? There are plenty of people in LA and OC who are not shy about paying big bucks to artificially enhance any natural attributes which they consider to be average.

Hmmm. Well, I might suggest you try phrasing it something like this:
"There are plenty of people in LA and OC who are not shy about paying big bucks to artificially enhance any natural attributes which they consider to be average."

San Francisco has more plastic surgeons per capita than Los Angeles.

I'm not surprised about number 1. Salt Lake is underrated in that regard. Lots of beautiful people. Now that religion on the other hand
