Many sandwich shop owners don't even make $15 hr .. especially when some of them are working in their shops 60 hours a week or more .

You could have a situation where employees are making more than the owner.

It'll be better for the huge multi national chains because they can afford to automate and run more efficiently .
They also have operations in China ,Europe etc that they can bring in money from .

It'll help eliminate a ton of competition for the chains.

I don't think we are responsible for keeping the minimum wage low enough for a failing business to hang on, and when the business owner makes less than $15 an hour it is indeed a failing business. One of the problems is the proliferation of some chain "sandwich shops". In Sacramento County there are 50 and they are all equally awful. We have one a few blocks from our house and I never see more than one car at a time in the parking lot. You could pay employees $3 an hour and the person who was dumb enough to buy that franchise will still make less than his employees.

Even if they are making $15 hour at least they are making a profit .
Failing usually means they are in the red and they are losing money each month.

Let me ask you though . Would you rather have that "awful sandwich shop " there which is employing people and occupying a retail space and bringing in tax revenue for Sacramento or an empty vacant space which is doing none of that ?
