Thanks.
All the republican governors before Gray Davis, and the Kalifornia Governator. Tuition for the UCs were low, now it's much higher and we still have riots.

I agree he is not as bad as I fear but just the fact he is elected because we are a liberal state doesn't mean he is a good governor.

Even the guy who triggered the utility crisis and whose race-baiting cast the state GOP into the political wilderness? That guy?

Or the guy who immediately limited Pat Brown’s vision for UC Master Plan and demanded tuition? That guy?

That’s going back 67 years, and “all those republican governors” is George Deukmejian.

Thank you since I was one of the students back then I remember Pete Wilson and yes the state was much better off than it is now and tuition was much lower.

In what ways was the state better 'back in the day'? You mean before it's population exploded straining it in every imaginable way?

Yes, tuition was lower.

An agreement signed by Wilson and the state's universities calls for annual funding increases of four percent and student fee increases of around 10 percent.

Republicans have held CA governorship 37 of last 50 years.

I don't really like him. Too much "pie in the sky" thinking while ignoring the reality of the here and now. I understand forward thinking, I've just seen too much of it crash and burn when the future turned out to be different that they fantasy of it.
