Yes, higher wages mean less profit ..and less profit means higher chance of failure.
Yes businesses have always been relatively risky...versus a doctors office,, dental office or law firm...but now it just makes it even more of a risk for the landlord..

It's silly that you would be oblivious to that.

Also the pizza guy.. Did you know he's operating in Ohio ?
"Michael Shepherd is a four-time World Pizza Champion who owns and operates three unique brick oven-style pizzerias in Northwest Ohio. "

Even his big 20% profit would disappear with a $15 minimum wage. Fact and reality!
So! You read my story submission?!!! Excellent! Except you didn't acknowledge the part where he said he called other pizza guys including in California? And the California pizza guys were also reporting up to 20% margin? Rats, jm!

And, remember my quick little math lesson last night about how YOUR pizza guy needed only up up his pizza prices by less than a buck for a $10 pie to clear triple the profits he claimed for himself?

Everything is supposed to be more expensive in California, remember?

Listen, it's fun throwing this around with you but you're being obtusely sillier with each post, jm. You apparently think small business owners who are smart enough to develop $3 million in sales and manage three locations - um, are too freakin stupid to figure out how to adjust to make better than a 1.6% margin, even though the industry average is triple that and many report up to 12x that?

Where's my "roflmao"? Oh there it is!

It's silly that you don't realize that except for a few places like the SF bay area there is far more inventory of commercial real estate than there are people wanting to lease it. Why else do you think thousands of smoke shops and massage parlors have sprung up all over the state?

And Fresno will probably see the rise of more massage parlors..also do you think those massage parlors will actually abide by the $15 hr law, or maybe will be paying the chinese immigrants under the table?..

Seriously you don't think that a good number of small businesses don't already hire people to work under the table? You seem to be quickly running out of legitimate arguments.

You don't think there will be more of an incentive to pay under the table at $15 versus the current wage?

Right ..it's all so easy.. JUST RAISE PRICES!
or JUST RAISE TAXES!

That's why I said you should get into business consulting because you are so confident that you know how to make businesses profitable. Because all the business owners out there are stupid on average right?
They didn't read the same articles as you I guess is all...

Nope because employees are hired under the table for more reasons than the hourly wage. Employers don't have to pay any taxes on the wages, they aren't bound by laws concerning overtime or working conditions and you can fire them for no reason at all and they can't complain or draw unemployment. Most undocumented farm workers are paid more than the minimum wage and it's still lucrative for the employer

So you don't think the prevailing minimum wage has anything to do with it?..

Also do you have any sources on the undocumented farm workers making more than minimum wage?
