Oakland Hills by Mormon Temple fits the description pretty well:

Nice pic! But Athens is Mediterranean and SoCal looks way more mediterranean than SF.

Perhaps someone has pics of any San Diego enclave that might look like a Greek city?

San Francisco, the first time I went there it reminded me of Athens... Just the look of the city, the actual city is different but the look reminded me.

The Oakland pics are nice but as noted the nightfall obscures that it is really nothing like Athens.

I think LA has an inkling of a resemblance to Barcelona (more so than to Athens). Again, this is mostly due to geography and climate. LA's architecture is not close to Barcelona's (vastly different time periods/history, etc.)...though I've always thought Gehry's Disney Hall has echoes of a modern Gaudi.

I was going to say that parts of Santa Monica and Malibu remind me of the south of France. LA overall has a mixed look that reminds me of Mediterranean Europe, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City and an Asian city like Manila.

L.A.

Athens may be the only city in the world with worse drivers than Los Angeles...

Santa Barbara has been likened to the Riviera. Twenty some cruise ships make port every year now. What that has to do with Athens, Greece ? Never been there, just say'n S.B. is Mediterranean like they say. Cruise ships stop here for a reason. Check it out for you self.

Old thread but every time I street view Athes it screams California to me. I'm European btw and know the US only from movies and still parts of Athens really looks like American cities to me. Specifically San Francisco (hilly grid streets overlooking the bay) but with the nature of LA.
