You know WA has a pretty high real estate tax rate compared to CA, right? And far less infrastructure to manage and maintain. 1/5 the population.

property tax is collected by the county for local purposes and this is true wherever you live in the USA

On top of that there is a 0.9% SDI tax collection plus a minimum 7.5% sales tax (higher in many places). How does the state justify collecting that much from the middle class individuals? When you include federal and payroll taxes, some individuals are paying upwards to 40% of their income in taxes and that does not include paying sales tax, property tax, etc.
No way Jose. They will not go down. And just wait. They will probably go up, especially once we have to subsidize the wrong-route should-have-been-high-speed rail.

Yes, California has high income taxes, especially if you make more than $100k. But it is somewhat offset by some of the lowest property tax rates in the country. That's why if you go to other states like NY, NJ or Conn you pay more in total taxes, they have high income tax and high property tax.

Look in the generic California forum and you will find many threads talking about taxes in CA. Quite a few, in fact. Go read them and then post a synopsis here, please.

That will get the conversation started !!

(PS: Don't forget to provide a link to every thread you found!)

I don't see any decreases in the future unless there is a voter revolt. The government, regardless if they Democrats or Republicans, will never let go of power and money once they get a hold of it. They are addicted to power and free money like junkies are addicted to drugs.

California always falls in the top 5 worst states to be a tax payer, coupled with the insane cost of living your money does not go very far here.
