Paso was a great town when it had 7,000 people, the high school track was 420 yards around instead of the standard 440, and the county had 80,000 people, I leave for a few years and the place goes to hell.

Ok, ok. I just returned from 3 days in and around Paso Robles. I stand by my earlier comments about the intrusion of chain places but that seems to be mostly along the state highways. Hard to keep them out and let's face it, people patronize these places for a good reason. Other than that, Paso Robles still retains a fair amount of it's charm. People still "chat", pace is slow, and traffic isn't too overwhelming (yet). Yeah, the place has indeed changed but all is not lost.

Paso people, you still have a nice town BUT the mongrols are at the walls and battering down the gates. You'd do well to keep them under control.

I heard Paso Robles is trying to get Fresh And Easy and Costco right now. I heard Best Buy will be going next to Bed Bath N Beyond. I think eventually Paso will surpass SLO's population and have their open-air mall. We have a pro-business city council from what I heard.

I heard Paso Robles getting an open-air mall (lifestyle center) mostly matters on the income of the area. Is their not enough people with high income in the area for an open-air mall yet? I know River Oaks: The Next Chapter, Borkey Specific Plan, and Chandler Ranch Specific Plan are new homes planned to be built and Paso's growth rate was like 500 people per year until the recession started.

Hmm, that city really does need a new city council. They are all very anti-growth except for maybe one council member which is the mayor. The others would not annex or have population growth within the city or do anything for the sake of tax revenue. I think annexing Heritage Ranch and the Jardine Road area would greatly help the city gain population and tax revenue and would help attract businesses.

They really need to do something about their DMV, I was there a month ago and can not believe how small the office is and how packed it was (as they all are) but I just couldn't believe how small the office is, the workers even looked cramped.

I wonder what the possibility of JCPenney's or OSH closing is and allowing Macy's to move into Paso Robles?

I think the town council should solicit a Harrods. It has more things and offers a more satisfying shopping experience.
