Gladly. And thanks, Richmond, VA, for another example of how the rest of the country would like us to break away!

150 years of case law says secession is illegal, that California is in perpetual union with the other states. Im not going to involve myself in the legal weeds of what is and isn't technically treason, but it's definitely illegal. The uprising would be totally crushed if President Trump so wished.

Yes, it does. But we also need to be free of a nation that is drowning us with problems we aren't responsible for, and using billions of our tax dollars to fund things that go against our values.

It's not a tantrum. It's genuine fact based fear based on facts. Donald Trump is an inexperienced faired businessman who will set the country back 50 years.

ETA - I was not initially FOR Clinton. I was for Sanders and against TRUMP.

Do you understand polling bias? Next, are you going to post a poll from NFL.com asking if its readers like football?

Um, the poll is polling people who are interested in the separation of California from the union. It's not presented as a poll of all California residents. So it is asking those who are in favor of independence if they would welcome Washington and Oregon as well to the new proposal. So far, 84% of respondents seeing the questions have answered affirmatively.

You previously stated that anyone promoting secession would be guilty of treason. No, they wouldn't - unless they tried to organize such movement as a violent revolution. People can propose secession all they want. They can petition the government to consider such break up. It wouldn't be considered treason to do so. And the legislature has the power to create the exit.

No, I don't expect it to happen. But it is not treason to propose and petition for it. It is treason to attempt a violent overthrow.
