Get ready to be served by robots in restaurants, then. Humans are too expensive to employ.

$50 per hour is $104K annually. For minimum wage.

This is so ridiculous I would normally say this is a publicity stunt for votes, but sadly I think she is serious.

This is what you get when politicians who have never run a business or had to make a payroll make the rules.

I'm a small business owner and if this were to pass, I would immediately lay off all my employees and retire. I could not afford to stay in business.

Worthy of repeating.

California's minimum wage for restaurants/fast food is now $20 - and mistakes done with orders still occurs far more than they should. That woman is totally oblivious and gullible. If a family can't live on $127,000/year then they either live in the Bay Area, or they are living wrong.

Something has to give at some point.

I'm sure people have noticed that when you go to a fast food restaurant, chances are you are ordering and paying at a machine now.

I had a small business for 16 years too, and at the end was paying $12/hour, with the minimum at $7.16, but when I gave people a raise, I had to raise prices to absorb the cost.

These people never think through their hair-brained ideas. The biggest problem with that is that people making the equivalent of $70-100/hour or more are going to have to be paid more, because their skills are so much more than the minimum wage workers. Then the $1 million house is going to cost $3 million, basic cars $120,000 and a bag of groceries $200. That burger flipper making $104,000 will still end up being at poverty level. Where would they even find a house in California for what they could afford on $104k, about $350-400k?
