This might be a reason to move back to socal. Or somewhere in California with less smog than socal. It would be interesting how the Canadian's incorperated their system and the ones US residents are used to. What would they do with those on social security, for instance? Would you have to unretire? With the number of spanish speakers, would that be an official language too, along with English and French?

You want to really shake up things? That would certainly do it. And all of us who live in the midwest who didn't start out here and feel like aliens might want to escape back to the coast and this new area since what's left would go way way far to the right instead of just way far.

And what of Alaska? It wouldn't be sittiing up there all alone.

I'd be heading back to California as soon as it looked likely.

Don't forget, y'all; if Canada's involved, or part of it, taxes could go up. But as long as those bought you a better safety net and saner governance, you'd be ok with that, right?

Yes, there is more to life than Death and Taxes when it comes to Quality of Life. And Canadians do live longer, BTW. A Canadian California doesn't sound that bad at all. But my grandfather was Canadian. So I'm a little partial.

Another interesting read: 99 Reasons why it's better to be Canadian.

Taxes in Canada aren't any higher than in the US overall, outside of Quebec at least.

Not to mention all the complainers who are going to cry a river when they lose the US' more diverse state and greatest economic resource. They will have to blame someone else for all their problems, lack of factory jobs, etc... I would imagine New York will be their next favorite liberal bastion to blame everything on.

More tweets from both Californians and Canadians onboard with the idea.
