It isn't just rain that is needed, but far more snow than has been falling for a few years.Snow melting keeps the rivers flowing, iwater behind dams ncluding the ones SoCal gets water from but the real key is the snow pack which feeds the whole State.

Living in snow country here. Overall precipitation is way ahead of last year which was 110% of normal. Snow levels have been high. The major reservoirs are filling up. Snow pack depth is only a factor, but not the whole story. Overall precipitation is the whole story

Yosemite valley is in a massive snowstorm, that should finish the drought with all its extra water
