Hello,

I am a licensed pharmacy technician in Texas, but am wanting to move to California. Are there any specific websites I should look at? Any place in Cali is OK, but I prefer northern California. Oakland seems nice, I am looking for a good Hispanic area. Any help is appreciated.

You probably have already looked into California licensing requirements for Pharmacy Technicians, but just in case you haven't, that would be the place to start:

Pharmacy Technician License - California State Board of Pharmacy

Then, the Bureau of Labor has a site where you can compare salaries for Pharmacy techs to the state where you currently live. It also will give you some salary information for specific metro areas. Here is the link:

https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes292052.htm#st

Once you know the "median" salary in the areas that interest you, go to a site like Zillow.com, Apartments.com or Redfin.com and do some research on rents in that area to see if you can realistically afford to live there.

If so, go to the sub-forum for that area (i.e., for Oakland, go to San Francisco-Oakland subforum) and ask some questions about safe areas and finding the specific things you're looking for.

And, of course, then you need to find a job.

Good luck with your research!
