Like I said prior, we never had a problem with the weather in West Palm Beach, but Tampa on a few visits felt worse than I ever felt along with Orlando mid summer. South Florida so different from the rest of the state in many ways.

I know my old friends and co-workers are jealous, I saw it in their faces when I left, how they talked and comments they made, not all of them but some. I think for many it's the fact they are stuck there in a dismal job market and won't leave because they were born or raised there, had family or were too vested. So day in and day out they get up and go to work, seeing no merit increases rising cost of living and no alternatives. I wasn't about to end up like them, my career is why I left, some of the people there and traffic also factored in as well.

Many times people resent those who have the guts to pick up and move. Occasionally you will meet someone who will tell the person "I really admire you, I always want to move but never did it". But most of the time they resent you. You have the guts to make the move, because regardless of where you go none of us know for sure if it will work out the way we hoped.

FL is a trap for many people. I ran across a few there who wanted to leave but couldn't really save up enough to do so. But I do think where there is a will there is a way.

Sounds awful to say but many of your "friends" were hoping you would fall on your face in CA, and you didn't, so the resentment is now heightened.

I would cut them loose.

QUOTE=Ms. Intelligence;47324882]To be frank if I may, the OP sounds like a spoiled little boy. Get over it will ya? Florida is fine without you. Good luck in super liberal anything-goes Kalefurnya, lol.[/quote]

Huh? The OP made a move that works out better for him and his wife.

I lived in FL, it's fine Dec through March(maybe), the rest of the year it's miserably hot and humid. I used to laugh at the people from the northeast who would say "well at least I'm not shoveling snow"(I grew up outside NYC, I can only remember a handful of winters with massive snow, cold yes, but it wasn't Minnesota). Well they weren't sitting in the house 8 or 9 months out of the year.

FL is run from the A/C house to the A/C car to the A/C store most of the year. Than there is the people that migrate there. While there are many decent people I never saw so many "Jerry Springer" people in my life.

There is even a show called "FL not FL" where oddball news stories are discussed and callers have to guess whether it took place in FL or not.....LOL.

CA isn't perfect, but it is hands down better than FL in weather, scenery, people, and DRIVING.

Maybe? I'm beginning to think it's more jealousy, many are trapped there with flat wages, limited opportunity, every year it becomes harder and harder to live there, getting very overpopulated and/or is in SoFla. The large majority of friends who stay in contact overall are ones from the Northeast, that have good jobs and are happy.

If I told my FL friends I was moving back to the Northeast or somewhere less desirable where the winters are brutal, you know I would hear "Hope you like snow and cold", "Why is he moving there from here" and etc.

You are corrrect, people are "trapped" there, many of my FL friends are such. They cannot afford to leave nor stay, they sit there and take it literally settle for ****, complain daily about the company we all worked for and certain people in management, I never heard so much negative talk on a daily basis on an employer, pay and etc. than I did during my time in FL. Most every job I had, going out to lunch with the group often entailed this. Here I have not noticed it at all, everyone seems to be happy, nobody seems to complain and Californians in general are very laid back in nature. I have seen people do stuff here that would have gotten them fired in FL. So much for the "tax you to death state", I'm not seeing it yet.

I have started to not bother reaching out to over the past few months, it's hard because many I have had a relationship with for years. A few actually announced on FB that they would be in LA for a week, but never directly called me to let me know. Just was a one liner post on FB, and I do not log in daily, my Wife told me about it. Almost seemed intentional, but I did not reach out to them or say anything. Hope they enjoyed the trip.

I see my thread is bringing out the Florida Trolls, didn't expect that seeing "Florida" is not in the subject, tells you how far they go and wonder why they are hanging out in the CA forums?

I found a lot of very negative angry people down there. I would ask people from time to time(mostly from the northeast) do you like living in FL, some did, but most didn't. The heat and humidity was just too much and I do think it makes people cranky. I noticed down there that when winter came and while it certainly wasn't cool the humidity dropped and the temps were decent people seemed nicer.

There is nothing worse than feeling trapped, and knowing you put yourself in the position you're in now. FL salaries even for professional jobs like teachers and nurses are among the lowest in the nation. But FL is hardly a low cost of living state. When someone takes a $30,000 a year pay cut but find out they didn't lower their cost of living enough to justify the pay cut, than you have a problem. I never saw so many people working part time jobs. They have an office job and work as server on weekends. Because they;re making $12 an hour at their office job.

I would bet some of those people weren't in LA....LOL. You're right it was intentional. I mean why not let you know, maybe even ask to stay with you, or have you show them around? Doesn't make sense so most likely not true.

It was done on purpose, these aren't people you need in your life.

You know if you God forbid say anything on the FL boards that is anything negative you will be run out on a rail....LOL. But their boards are dominated by realtors. IDK how they get away with it. You don't see it on other state boards.

-This Spring to Anza-Borrego to get plenty of pics of the wildflowers.
-Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park
-Big Sur

and so on
lol. Yeah, why are these people so bitter? If it was so awesome outside of CA, why come here and bltch all day? Go out and have fun!

You don't see any CA residents trolling any other State's forum. Yet, thousands of people outside of CA come to the CA thread to complain about CA. Must be a very sad life they are living.

I mean the least they can do is thank us for the Internet. Which they use freely to get their hate on.

Yes, people in general are very irrtated, short fused and ready for a fight in SoFla. Did not matter if it was on foot or in the car, car mainly driving was a real daily nightmare. Large % of a-holes reside there and moved down from the Northeast and brought the abrasiveness with them. Could be those hot humid days when that sweat between your legs and up the crack get's to be too much, clothes sticking to you and etc.

The effect for me during "season" between Oct-April or so, was the direct opposite, driving was even worse, more people = even worse traffic. Stores are filled with crabby old people and baby boomers, had shopping carts shoved right in back of my feet, people jump in line and etc.

I gave it more than enough time, but a lot of people thought I was giving up or that I was a quitter, but I told my Wife this is it, not another year of the same old song and dance. Some people settle and regret it, I did not want to be that person. I have had opportunity to come out here prior, years ago and I turned it down several times.

Well the friends of mine claimed they were here for a business related conference, but I didn't see one photo on FB of their trip, so it might been pure smoke and mirrors. Just to fish for compliments or attention.

FL boards are filled with many Anti-CA types, it has always been that way and a lot of realtors and others sugarcoat things there way too much.

Yes...LOL. My last week in FL I was in the bank and here comes an old man with a NY accent dropping F bombs as loud as he can, he was annoyed he called the bank's 800 number and couldn't get help. I said to myself "Thank God I am on my way back to CA"....LOL.

Prior to FL I used to think the 20 somethings were the entitlement generation(and some are) but some of the old people in FL, take the cake. You don't see it out here with old people.

I saw more public displays of ridiculously rude behavior than ever before in my life, and the driving! Every once in awhile here in LA you get a jerk driver, but it was a daily routine there. I dreaded getting in the car.

You were smart, you know after a couple of years if a place is working or not, and that means a life/work balance.

It sure doesn't sound like they were out here. The problem with social media is anyone can post anything and it can be pure fiction. Why wouldn't you let someone know in advance you're in their area? Doesn't make any sense.

Hey young man please stay in Kalufurnya. As far as your Florida friends dissing you, maybe this was for a reason? What did you do? Let me guess you posted a lot of silly selfies on facebook showing your new perfect life? I just searched your goofy aewen68 name and if I must say, you are always gritching! Being an adult and taking responsibility goes a long way. A freakish state that loves to give freebies to illegals and treats their Veterans like poo poo, Florida will be fine without you. Good riddance!

It really is a Florida thing. I know other places can be too proud of their state to the point they get annoyed if someone leaves, but nothing like Florida. Really. Telling them we were relocating for my husband's job got a reaction like I just told them their baby was ugly. It was unreal.

My last week in Florida was October 2004 after we just got done with FOUR hurricanes that year. Two hit the Tampa area pretty bad and the other two were bad storms. But all 4 caused damage all around. It looked like a war zone with downed trees everywhere and people's windows boarded up. (We were renting at the time) And STILL even then when I mentioned to a couple of neighbors we were leaving for Virginia, I got "It's cold up there! You'll get blizzards!" Like really? We just got done with four hurricanes and you are telling me about Virginia's bad weather?

Anyway, no Flori-duh people are not going to be happy for you. Some are miserable, yes. But others are so brainwashed into thinking their giant roach infested state is paradise and you will never get them to see otherwise. Don't waste your time. Enjoy your new state.
