Hello. I am going to be selling my motorcycle this month and have a question. It had a non op registration on it for awhile. I just paid the bank off and own it now, and went to DMV to pay the title transfer and registration fee that got the status back to operational and current. But it expires next month. May 15th. I just received my title with me as the owner. Am I required to pay the registration again before I am able to sell it since it expires next month? Or can I sell it as is and it would be up to the new owner to pay for the registration that expires next month? I know about he smog laws prior to selling that applies to cars and not to bikes. But I wasnt sure if there was a requirement for me to pay it prior to selling since it is due in about a month and a half. Thanks

The registration will be due on or before the date it expires. If you pay it just bump up the price. If you dont the buyer will talk you down on the asking price. I would

There's no requirement that you renew the registration before you sell it. How that affects the price is between you and the buyer.

As the other posters stated, no problem with selling your bike with registration fees due in May, but don't let the registration lapse before you sell. If it does lapse then obnoxious penalties kick in.

I bought a bike with a non-op. I rode it home. The next day I rode it to the DMV and transferred title and paid registration. Not a issue at all.
