The quote? Where did it come from? I didn't see it in the Article. It seems like you added that in there to add some credence to what you posted.

The Article basically printed The California Board of Equalization's tooting their own horn. There is nothing to read there.

To be fair and answer the quote question, it was by someone else from another website. They weren't my words so I didn't want to present them as such though I should have made that more clear.

I think you guys miss the point in the boosting as much as the guys who continuously predict doom and bust for CA. It's not that CA will go bust, because it won't, it never will. CA's economy is a beast and will always be a beast. Everything that is said about it is correct, it's a powerhouse with the global links and the economic strength of a nation. But what kind of nation? That is is the issue that I think affects CA and Californians. The issue has always been the growing disparity, the red tape, the housing issues, etc. I don't even get how people think CA will go the way of Detroit, but at the same time there are very functional and rich yet unequal countries. If some of you don't care or agree if the state is unequal, that's fine, but I don't understand how that makes you or the state progressive or that different from the conservative strawman you rail against.

I get the reaction to the constant trolling and naysayers storming this forum about CA but I think on the flip side there is a tendency to really just explain away any other legitimate criticisms even natives might have. I am surprised at how there is always a convenient answer to things when brought up or a politicians proposal no matter how preposterous is defended because it will keep the states standards somehow. I mean is there anything actually wrong with the state that some of you might agree with?

Then there is the tying the identity of the State with liberal or progressive politics as if anything and everything the state does has to be right even if it's bleeding the state. To say otherwise would give an iota of credence to the right wing and what's associated with that? According to some of y'all backwoods, hillbilly, poor red states. In the end it becomes not about defending the great state of CA but defending liberalism over conservatism.

Heck it's not just y'all. I see this in the Texas forum too but on the right side of the spectrum. CA is the boogeyman every politician uses to block an initiative that could help the state tremendously but raise state spending in the process. They say, "that'll cost too much, do you want to end up like CA"? Well now as we can see by the great numbers, it's better to end up like CA.

All in all, I get it that some of you want to combat the attacks on the states by out of state trolls, but you guys should really read some of the stuff you guys post in return. I mean to some of you, just the mere fact that someone lives in another state is used an insult by you guys! That's weird to people from other states. Who thinks that because someone lives in AZ that is an insult in and of itself? Only people that insular to think the world revolves around the Golden State. I mean how do you guys not know that huge swaths of the country have developed and are developing pretty well now? It's no longer NYC or CA or bust.
The same way you guys look at others for trading in their soul for a McMansion in an MPC out in the exurbs of some red state, they look right back at you for choosing to live in what they perceive to be an overpriced, unequal, overcrowded state. At the end of the day it's all about preferences.

I said my two cents. Flail away. Peace.

I just hope that you post passive-aggressive statements on positive economic news on the other 49 state forums on CD. It's just crazy how much hate the CA forum gets. For this reason, I haven't been on this site for a while since I got tired of the doom and gloom.

This is why Republicans want CA to be a red state so bad. None of the red states has a thriving economy. All of them are dependent on Federal aid.

They wish CA was a red state so they can brag about it. "See, this is why Republicans are the best, look at CA economy. None of the dumb blue states can even compete with CA. Proof that Conservatism creates jobs, boost economy etc etc.

Except, history has shown that every time a Republican becomes president, the economy tanks!
