Plus housing isn't that bad. Look what you can get in LA for only $179,000?

What a steal.
Are you forced to live here? Have you seen the prices in Ny Ny? How about Hong Kong?

You would think the state would want to do that, but in fact, Sacramento is working aggressively to depopulate the inland regions. They aren't building water storage capacity to serve agriculture. They've restricted logging to end the timber industry and millwork. They've increased the cost of electricity which is critical to running air conditioners which make the Central Valley habitable. Raised the minimum wage to levels that the interior can't support, driving more business into Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona. And after these policies have devastated the interior's economies, the residents are mocked for ending up on welfare.

What?! Now that's a slice of CA history I didn't know about.

Young people are so ignorant about how the world works, they vote and demand things that make it worse for themselves. Bernie Sanders has done more damage to American Society than the KKK ever did, that's the truth.
Your last statement is one of the most laughable ever typed on City-Data.

why focus on the Center? California City is a master planned city and waiting for businesses and residents to notice it.

Antelope Valley cities are also master planned and the cables, pipes are already laid down, streets (not yet paved for most) are there already. the only thing lacking are the businesses and people willing to relocate. and this is just a short drive from LA

there is no need to develop another population area. these places I mentioned are ready for another 10M population.

Fair enough, but I didn't mean just focus on the Central Valley by the way. It was just a general question as to why the state doesn't focus on developing further inland. Central, Antelope, doesn't matter.

Wait before I venture doen this path with you, is my question about the Central Valley going to be interpreted as CA bashing? If so I'd rather just bow out now. I was asking a sincere question.

the places I mentioned are master planned and laid out already. no need to spend billions to make a city/metro. just direct all new businesses to locate there if they want to relieve the existing metros of congestion . heck, they could not even force Sec 8 developers to build there

but as in China, its hard to force people and businesses where they want to go. otherwise the speculators who made these cities I mentioned are in the company of Bren (of the Irvine Co fame) already
