They pay into local state taxes so the premise is valid.

The tourists don't abuse the system like the illegals do. They are not immigrants because they didn't immigrate like legal immigrants. They invaded just like someone that breaks into your home.

Well in CA they are stealing 25B worth of services per year. They "contribute" only a couple or a few billion, thus leaving a massive net loss. They are why we can't have nice things.

Or conversely if we were rid of them we could all have a 20% tax cut.

interesting that I'm not allowed to give you an up vote. I'm rarely on here and only got on tonight. the media at work as usual. Seems the mantra is never support anyone other than the bleeding heart "progressives" for that even if it will mean prosperity and security, and etc... as long as they get that free general fund they can move mountains more of welfare immigrants in to use up those tax dollars. the democratic. party should END.

Overpopulation, theft of services by illegals - those are the main reasons why we can't have nice things IN GENERAL not just education.

California has also become a FAILED STATE since Prop 13 was passed - which also has absolutely nothing to do with Prop 13, and everything to do with leftism run amok, made possible by the weaponization of demographics via the wholesale importing of poverty ridden people who are inclined and attracted to socialist schemes and eager to get their hands on OPM.

Blaming the current status of the system on a tax adjustment that happened 40 years ago and had minimal impact is ludicrous. Let it go already.
that's just silly. If you look at the number of illegal immigrants as a percent of population you can see that your claim is just nonsense.
This is from 2014 but I don't think the numbers have changed much since then.
Nevada 7.2%
Texas 6.1%
California 6%

And no, revenues for education were never recovered after prop 13 do some research instead of guessing. When prop 13 was passed California school spending was 5th in the nation, in 2016 California ranked #26

I grew up in CA in the 50 s and 60s and lived there through the 80s.
I watched it’s demise first hand. I was a democrat all those years until it became clear their policies were ruining CA.
I taught high school, and we went from the top in the nation to almost bottom.
I am rooting for you guys to turn it around again!
(Get rid of all the economic-draining and education-draining illegals! )

If you're blaming someone else for your problems, then you've got bigger problems than you think.

Out of curiosity, since you've seen the change. Do you think the democrats of yesterday are different than those in today's political climate? I do. Even the republican party has changed. Neither for the better. I remember California as being a bit more moderate; not the far left leaning it is today. I don't know exactly when it happened but it's been sad to watch.
