Hi,

I live about an hour from London in a place called Southampton. We've got a good mix of city life and country scenery really, but nothing on what California would have to offer.

I think coast side would be nice as I'm originally from a coastal town, would be nice to have that back.

Any suggestions for places in California would be very appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Charles,

After a lot of research we have decided on California, the visa situation is still in progress. There are so many different types of visa in the US!

Thanks again.

I would think that you should work on getting your Visas first, which is quite difficult.
Good Luck. If you are young which I expect you are,it wil all be and adventure you can look back on.
Oh yes,and not all Americans are rude.
Hi,

Thanks for your kindness, your assumption was right this is the first time I have used this site.

The visa situation is in progress and we have an appointment with the US embassy here in London to discuss them, there are so many!

Any info anyone can give on visa's would be a great help.

We know not all Americans are rude, everybody else has been so kind and helpful, so far. I guess the odd one is found everywhere. no matter where you are.

Thank you again for your help so far.

Adventure here we come!

Gracie,

This post was for some positive help from Friendly Americans or UK people that have already emigrated. I don't appreciate your general descriptions of "I just find it funny, how they label Americans dumb and their smart", you don't even know us, as in me and my girlfriend, and I would appreciate it if you wouldn't assume that you do, or the English for that matter.

If you feel you can be of no use with any information, can you please stop putting posts on here. I think we, both English and Americans, would all appreciate it if you kept your opinions to yourself.

Thank you - Have a nice day!

Great advice - thanks, a 6 or 12 month tour would be such a nice holiday - to start with.

I think thats what we'll plan on doing, we're gonna have a base in California then have a look around.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

The visa situation is giving us a bit of brain ache, there are so many!

Any advice on visa's will be very much appreciated!

A sponsor would be even better and make it so much easier.

Thanks

Original Poster .... California!!! and in my opinion coastal California from central coast (as a photographer you must see Big Sur!!!! - the challenge is to just try [i dare you] to capture the magical essence of the place - not often done!) and on up through San Francisco and Napa and Sonoma (wine country - beautiful).
The summers will bring fog along the coast and more and less (and it's often not a constant) depending where you are but it's a beautiful fog ... a magical mystical fog. And you only need go a bit inland to find the sun when you need it.
The incredible natural/environmental diversity of this state will please you i think. For example, you can drive from San Francisco to the Sierra mountains in less than 41/2 hours (depending on traffic).
And when you're in California the entire big wild West of this country is yours to explore. If you're in Florida you're kinda stuck down there unless you have a particular draw to the southern part of the United States.
Florida ... ummmm ... sorry Floridians ... but there are so many reasons to NOT relocate there! Just my opinion of course.
Hi Rubyskye

Thanks for your reply and the heads up with the info. I accept the challenge of trying to capture the magical essence, I'm sure it will be a challenge and experience worth while. Just need to get there first. haha.

Really, you have been a great help with your information and thank you for that. We've decided on California, now we just have to decide where in California, then there's the whole visa situation...or a sponsor would be even better.

Any help anyone please?

Thanks everyone for the help they've given so far.
