Working in pleasonton ca.. does it makes sense to buy a house in mountain house in2017
My husband has been in the US since 2007 and has lived in San Jose, fremont , union city. Currently we live in union city and love the area. He works in pleasonton and the commute to work is a breeze. 20 mins both am/pm. Now as a growing family we want to own a house and looking at SFR in mountain house. I want to know if it's a good decision to buy a SFR in MH in 2017 or consider getting a condo/ townhouse in the city we currently live in! Condo/ townhouse in fremont/ union city is around the same price as buying a house in MH. Also, I have read some older forums where people have shared their pros and cons.. is it worth the move mainly considering 4 days a week commute!

I'd think the commute would be pretty awful. Remember that westbound on 580 (inbound towards Pleasanton) is the bulk of the flow of traffic. That would be time spent on the road that isn't being spent on the family.

Depends how much you hate your husband and don't want to ever see him except on weekends. I'd just buy something in Pleasanton. You can get a house in Pleasanton for the same price range that a house in Mountain House runs, $500-700k. It's just not going to be as nice a house. Whether that's worth an extra hour commute each way or not just depends. For a lot of people it's worth it. I'm not that materialistic and I like the rest of Pleasanton way more than Mountain House. Nice little downtown, good restaurants, coffee shops. The only thing in Mountain House is a convenience store.

Yes, the quality of life in Ptown is so much better than Mtn House.
