Let's assume for a moment that you're correct. If someone attacks me with the intent to kill, I should not be able to respond with equivalent force to defend myself, my family, or those around me?

Mustangs and Camaros are designed to speed. Can we ban them? Booze is designed to get people drunk. Ban it? Lock cutters are designed to break into things. Another ban?

When does your simplistic, myopic reasoning break down for you? Or does it not, and you can keep happily spinning in circles?

And what exactly is the problem with that? If I go out hunting for Deer or Elk or Moose, would you prefer I just wound the animal so it wanders around suffering for hours on end? Want me to chase it all over and just keep wounding it? The mark of a good hunter is to take an animal down in a single shot so the animal does not suffer. There are still many people in this country that like to go hunting and consume the meat from the animals they harvest. I am one of them.

As for defense, there are an awful lot of places on the body of a human you can hit to disable a person without killing them.

Target shooting isn’t role playing. It is practice and it is fun. Like any other sport, you have to practice regularly to get and stay good.

Personally I really enjoy trap and skeet shooting. There is a level of skill involved in reliably hitting a small moving clay flying thru the air.

Though I have plenty of reloading supplies I put that on hold for now since primers are so scarce. What I have left will be for hunting.

You apparently don’t read well ... or too lazy to follow the conversation. I didn’t say anything was wrong with guns as killing tools. I simply pointed out that’s what they are solely designed for. That is their purpose.

I did a career in military as an ordinance specialist. Served as such in multi-tour combat.
I used to hunt with firearms .... now I am an occasional bow hunter in my senior years.
I still own a few firearms and have a CCW permit.

I never shot to ‘wound’.

Target practice is ritualized killing. It is practicing for the kill. Never said anything was wrong with that.

Only thing I’ve said is ‘wrong’ is: stupidity.

You really cant. When a criminal comes at you they don't warn you. You won't have time to aim at their knees like *******s always say they want. Anyone with a brain knows you shoot at center mass.

True. And you better believe if some thug comes at me or my family I won’t be aiming to wound. But that is my decision. I don’t have a problem with guns. I own a few. And I am moving to a constitutional carry state in free America where I can and will carry my M&P shield at all times. I will also walk right into the store and buy any capacity magazine I like for any of my firearms. And if I want a new gun I will walk in, get my background check, and walk out with my new firearm under my arm less than an hour later instead of waiting 10 days to take possession of my property like we have to here. Oh yeah, no bull**** handgun roster either.
