Here's more on U.S. based BYD's agreement to create more jobs in LA as part of the deal. It sounds like a win-win to me. (Again, this is from a U.S. publication, not a Chinese one):

Jobs to Move America and BYD Motors have announced the signing of a landmark community benefits agreement (CBA) that will create pathways into the manufacturing industry for underrepresented and underserved populations in Los Angeles County.

The CBA between JMA and BYD is a legally enforceable agreement that will support the creation of a robust U.S. jobs program through deep investments in pre-apprenticeship and training programs.

BYD has committed to a goal of recruiting and hiring 40 percent of its workers from populations facing significant barriers to employment, such as veterans and returning citizens. In addition, populations that have historically been excluded from the manufacturing industry, such as women and African Americans will be also be recruited and placed.

Most of the jobs will be created in the City of Lancaster, where one of BYD’s facilities is located.

“Lancaster has one of the largest re-entry populations in Los Angeles County. Ensuring returning citizens have a stable job with benefits is the best way to keep them from returning to the system,” said Pastor Darrell Dorris, deputy mayor of Lancaster.

We COULD be engineering and designing electric vehicles and low carbon infrastructure, but choose, as a society, not to.

Embarrassing.

The electricity to charge the busses comes from coal fired power plants.

Actually, in California, we already are.

There's the plant in Lancaster, but also electric vehicle maker Proterra just opened a plant in the LA area. And, there are other Calif. companies designing and building electric vehicles as well, like Tesla's plant in Freemont or Lucid Motors in the Bay area among others.

It's not embarrassing. It's exciting.

Big oil...

Toyota already has an awesome invention. The Hydrogen car. That runs on hydrogen and the only exhaust is H20. How awesome is that?

Hydrogen is currently half the cost of Gasoline.

Hydrogen should be the future. It's easier to refill than to wait 2 hours to charge a car. It can go longer distance and there is no dead battery to worry about clogging up the landfills. Battery is also toxic.

Toyota just needs to design a better looking hydrogen car. Heck, they should offer Hydrogen cars in all their lineups. Especially the Camry. That should get things going.

As long as your tank is full and sealed. Get in an accident with another Hydrogen vehicle and the explosion will not be so good. More flammable and explosive the gas.

Ever hear of the Hindenburg? Hydrogen containing, with some diesel fuel.

Actually 10% of BYD is owned by Warren Buffett and there are several major Korean investors like Samsung as well. We are long past the days where most large international companies are of one country. Might want to update your xenophobia.
