Just to kind of get back on track, here's one of the cons I've experienced living in the Low Desert:

The tap water. During the hot summer months, even if it's 110-125°F outside, if you turn on your sink on the "cold" setting, the water will STILL come out as burning hot! I learned that the hard way.

So what's the attraction of said places of which you speak? CA is huge and there are plenty of affordable places in our fine State that aren't so harsh or as run down as Barstow.

Desert Hot Springs...

That, and the areas that are near/surrounding Barstow (e.g., Daggett, Yermo, Lenwood, Newberry Springs, Baker, etc.).

Does not seem like spamming....but the number of similar posts may raise the Mods eyebrows.

You are in the desert-areas, right? Live there for a while and evaluate the pros and cons, then make a decision if you want to stay long term. I did that when I left San Diego.....was really tough because I liked it a lot, but too expensive to stay.

Yeah, I'll be sure to switch up the subject every once in a while.

So do you brainstorm a new thread idea every day, or do you keep a list to save time in case you run dry?
