Well, you'll have to define "beach," but Crescent City is a very affordable coastal town. With beaches.

OP, people want to believe the entire state is LA or SF with no other option in-between. Yes, it would simply take common sense and about a minute to look at a map of CA to learn otherwise, but, even if they are really well-educated people - that's too hard for them. They don't want their opinions changed.

It is and according to news reports, Sacramento is seeing the biggest influx of BATs (bay area transplants). The escalating home prices there are driving them this way ... again. Same thing happened in the early 2000's which led to the skyrocketing prices in the valley. It seems to be happening again only at a slower pace. I've been watching RE prices in my area. There's a home (identical) in my neighborhood priced 10K more than one that sold just 30 days ago. This is exactly what happened in 2005. Prices went up daily, it seemed. It's nuts!

But for a variety of reasons, they aren't. So employees can't move there if there are no such jobs in those places.

Except, I suspect--and hope--the boom isn't being fueled by crazy loans as was the case in 2005.

You just need an internet connection and a few coding skills to make a tech company.

If it was a viable option, they would have done it already, they ( tech business owners) are not dumb. There are no jobs in many of the low cost areas.

From what I read about it, it's not about loans. It's supply and demand. There just isn't enough inventory for buyers.
