Even though Harvey, Irma, and especially Maria caused tremendous devastation (then terrible tragedy in Las Vegas), for some reason this latest disaster is just really too horrific and heartbreaking.

Condolences to all affected.

Another nasty fire east of chico, started this afternoon, we saw the plumes & some flames on our way home from shopping in Chico. Parts of Paradise are under evacuation, & warnings. Lots of road closures.

Someone just sent me a picture of their "house". I can't believe it. ALL that is left is the hull of the truck, and part of a tree. It's flat.

Thank you.

I can't believe how many families are going through this.

Mikala, I just received word that aunt and uncle's home burned to the ground as well. They are retired and lost so much. Its all very surreal. It really is shocking that this all happened so quickly.

I remember all too well the Monterey County fires we had last year. But it seemed like there was so much more time for residents to prepare who were in harms way. Although it ravaged Big Sur there were many, many structures that were saved. This seems like an entirely different situation with regards to the rapid destruction of homes and other property. They are saying one of the worst...

I'm so very sorry. I was just writing that I can't imagine what it is like to have nothing. You wake up and it's all gone... pictures from childhood, memorabilia from family and those passed, the things you took so much time to pick out.... You have nothing.

I know it is "just" things and they can be replaced.... but some can't and it is what you chose to surround yourself with to make your safe nest.

I know that in this case, it was the dog who woke up my sister, they had just enough time to grab a few things.... the house was on fire before they left.

That is just unbelievable! I am so, so sorry this is happening to them, and to everyone else.
