A far cry from your assumption that "the desire to create a right to housing is exactly what homeless rights agitators want."
Ever ask how it is that people who don't speak English and spent less than half the time in school as has the average American, can come to this city with nothing more than the clothes they're wearing, and somehow manage to find housing? What does that tell you about the people who push around stolen shopping carts and camp in alcoves?

Wait till she comes to L.A

______

“These harrowing conditions prompted her to group San Francisco alongside cities like Mumbai and Delhi, which are known for some of the poorest and dirtiest neighborhoods in the world. In a statement to the East Bay Express, Farha compared the Oakland camps to a low-income dwelling in Mexico City that had no running water and was forced to steal electricity.“

I question whether you are being genuine when you claim not to know that agitators are trying desperately to create a right to housing. It appears you may even be involved in the activist groups.

Activist groups are very clearly agitating for a right to housing

The activist group below is the very one that filed an amicus with the court in the Federal Orange County homeless case. That group is extremely far left. From their website:

Housing Rights Overview (see: Source: https://www.nlchp.org/housing)

Every year, over 3.5 million people are homeless in the United States.
Housing is a human right. The Law Center fights to make it a reality by holding the U.S. accountable to international standards, preventing homelessness for renters, and creating homes and communities for homeless people using surplus government property. In addition, the Law Center fights to prevent economically vulnerable domestic violence survivors from becoming homeless.

The Law Center leverages its legal expertise and the pro bono power of the private bar in its fight to establish a right to housing in the United States. We believe no man, woman, or child should be without a safe place to call home.

The four key focuses of our housing program are:

Bringing the human right to housing home

Preventing economically vulnerable domestic violence survivors from losing their housing

Preventing homelessness for renters

Creating homes and communities for homeless people with unused government property

OC Federal Homeless case.

The U.S. Constitution never created a right to housing

Obama, for example, understood well that the U.S. Constitution is not designed to give it's citizens things other than largely assurances of basic freedom; above that, a citizen was on his own. The U.S. Constitution merely provides a framework for how the state can interact with you and how it can treat you -- not what it can give you. A solution had to be found.

https://www.usnews.com/opinion/artic...e-constitution

The human "right" to housing obviously does not exist in the U.S. Constitution. How then, can we force states and cities to provide it? Knowing this, agitators tried to force the right to housing om us by getting the US to ratify a treaty which the US never signed, ICESCR.

Housing as a “Civil Right”

A civil right is a right understood for a person to be free from unequal treatment based on certain protected characteristics. Poverty is not a protected ground yet the agitators claim that a person’s inability to afford something, in and of itself constitutes discrimination. These agitators argued that depriving the homeless of housing is cruel and unusual (a concept tied to criminal penalties) – Ha, so then would be not providing healthcare, dental care (when it is an emergency), etc. Absurd!

The fact that you call those who believe that helping the homeless get off the streets and into temporary shelter "agitators" shows your bias, extreme views, and stereotyping.

All your links are op-ed pieces, written by people who must think the way you do.

Actually no, you are obfuscating just as I thought. The entity listed below filed an amicus brief in the OC Homeless case and openly writes that it wants to create a right to housing. It is affiliated with hundreds of groups. I guess you missed that.

OC - tell me a bit more about your opposition to any “right to housing”. Serious request. I’d like to consider what you think are the dangers to society. I am not involved in any right to housing movements. But, at this point, I don’t see that any of the campaign to establish any right to housing is aiming at anything impositional on society ... but, rather, getting the people off the street that we all want off the street by some very modest venues.

Do you somehow feel that this is positioning to drag “productive society” into providing comparative comfort to the unwashed masses?

The poor libs keep trying to pretend their interpretation of the constitution is permanent and/or irrefutable... your mess is being cleaned up- with or without you...you don't have to get tired of losing...but...losing you are and lose you will.....
THIS is the best news the homeless have had since before 2009... secured, supervised facilities away from the liberal drug machine... a life of productivity outside ? show us what you got!! a life of working on the state farm or whatever..maybe...show us what you can do! A life of free crime hovels and drugs with robbery, mess and murder on your to-do list.. NOPE... life long criminal tendencies and behavior gets you life long segregation away from non-criminals...period...

9th gets the winning spirit, for everyone!! including the homeless!!!

Yes! No reason to stick with the old constitution now that your Big Daddy Chump is here to protect us all from evil!

Meanwhile, back to homelessness in LA?
