His (and their) thinking was that it would be cheaper and easier to treat these types with medication instead of physical facilities and we are STILL suffering from this as of today. The old "Lets give them a shot of this medication and they'll be normal again" doesnt work and hasnt worked.
.

That's factually inaccurate, and one of those lies that's been repeated so many times it ends up being accepted as a truth. Reagan didn't de-fund mental health facilities - he elected to let the states decide how much to spend on mental health, and awarded grants to them in order to help do it. It was the states that decided it was one of the first things they could cross off on their line item budgets.

Regardless, the pigeon analysis is appropriate. Plus, it's 22 degrees in Chicago right now. It's about 65 degrees outside here at the moment. Do the math.

Weather doesn't help...but liberal policies and tolerance plays a role.

Thing is even liberal folks are getting a bit tired of tolerated the behavior of the homeless. Which includes litter, crime, harassment, violent attacks and sometimes murder.

Housing the homeless is far more humane, healthy, safe and sane then letting them just wander around high and causing problems: get them a nice clean spot out there where they can get cleaned up and sober. so simple...we can easily get them resources without having to track them down... so simple..
I wonder why the left wingers want so badly to have them suffer outside catching hepatitis and all sorts of other diseases beside the general demoralizing aspects of being homeless. ...oh yeah, they are all for failed ,expensive polices that enrich government workers with an expansive, useless bureaucracy.....history proves that quite emphatically... the liberals are despicable by making the homeless wander the streets just to extract more money from good people that want the money to really help those in need and make the country great again!!!

Solution is simple, blot out the sky. Induce winter conditions.

The current situation is an embarrassment. Let's not act like over 9,000 people working for LAPD

Over 3,000 working for LAFD they didn't know about these encampments before .

That's not including the thousands and thousands of other city employees.

Classic example of looking the other way.

I think it's a very sad situation that the LAPD doesn't care enough about our neighborhoods to keep them safe from mentally unstable people who wander around in them. I've given up on trying to get the LAPD to provide me with any assistance in the matter, since they all seem to have "being homeless is not a crime" burned into their heads by the LAPD's upper management, such as that horse merchant with the mustache.

Yeah it's unfortunate. I'm not sure else what we can do besides hoping for a regime change in which the rights and safety of innocent citizens is respected.

It seems that should be a given, but not in L.A .

It just seems common sense that you have so many unstable people roaming around it's not going to be good.

We probably hear about less than 1% of incidents on the news.

Even when a homeless person kills an innocent person, there is hardly any media coverage of it.

There was a homeless person that killed a pregnant woman in Venice some years back and it hardly got any coverage.

This is the scumbag that killed her and her child

"
Washington was a transient, and Culver City police had several contacts with him in 2008 and 2009, mostly for sleeping in abandoned buildings and parking garages.
Then, on Dec. 6, police detained him after a resident alleged that Washington was trying to break into his house. Washington, 22, had been convicted or charged with either trespass or related offenses in three states, and Culver City police immediately apprehended him. They questioned him, photographed him and alerted the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
But because there was little evidence, police said, they decided to release him without an arrest."
