Just a hypothetical (to anyone living in South Lake Tahoe): Let's say a single person was wander into town today. Assuming this individual looked okay, and was employable, would he or she be able to move into one of the weekly-rate motels (Pine Cone Acre, Stateline Lodge, etc.) that are posted on craigslist? What are those motels like and what is it like living at one of them?

You can get the info you need through tripadvisor. Just google and their ratings will come up. I don't remember seeing any sketchy motels in the area, but online reviews will let you know.
Just know that there will be snow!

I lived in SLT on a off for a few years. It is a great place to ski, mountain bike, swim, and stay active and eat healthy. The renting here is a nightmare. Most houses have no code or were built in the 1980s with single pane windows and terrible heating systems with little updates. Rent is cheap because houses is cheap and can collapse at any moment.
