Here are some options.

Check out the Alta Loma school district in Rancho Cucamonga. Here is a nice 4 br for $648k with a 9/10 elementary school. The disadvantage is the summer heat in Rancho Cucamonga which is in San Bernadino County.

Here is a small 3 bedroom for $639k in the Tierrasanta neighborhood of San Diego. Its in a 9/10 elementary district.

Inland Orange County has several options in that price range with good schools.

The Conejo Valley area in Ventura County has good schools and an excellent climate.

In the Bay area its possible to get close to the 700k range in the Green Valley area of Fairfield. Here is a really nice home for $780k and its close to 10 rated Nelda Mundy Elementary.
