I agree. It’s no big deal to do away with something they never used. The bleeding hearts do everything for the criminals and nothing for the victims.

If Newsome wins, does that mean anyone in the world can skip getting a visa and just buy a one way ticket and become legal California residents w/benefits? I have friends who would like to know.

They really protect us here. Looks like you’re the one that has no idea what he’s talking about.
A sanctuary state has nothing to do with protecting illegal alien criminals. There haven't been any early releases of violent criminals or for those serving indeterminate sentences. Sentencing laws changed for non violent/non-serious crimes in order to comply with the Supreme Court Ruling that capped the number of inmates who could be housed in California prisons. Three strikes was altered only so that the third strike had to be serious or violent, in the past a relatively minor charge such as drug possession could trigger a 25 to life sentence.

Feel free to fact check what I've said and once you do you probably won't be brag about how much you know about the law.

That 3rd strike for a minor crime ignores that the guy is a lifetime criminal.

Prior to the change in the law, a person could be convicted of two counts of residential burglary (two stikes) when they were 18, lead a crime free life and when they are 50 get a conviction for something relatively minor, like making a threat and get 25 to life. The person still does time for the new offense but they don't get a life sentence.

At some point we need to get rational about who we send to prison for long periods of time and who we don't. Three strikes did not reduce the crime rate, it doesn't act as a deterrent to crime and it's crazy expensive to keep senior citizens in prison, it costs 75k a year to keep a person in prison in California but keeping someone over 55 in prison can double or triple the cost

I can see your point now. Why pay to protect the citizens from criminals when we can use that money for Brown’s train to nowhere or for the pensions for precious union members?

That was sarcasm since it probably went over your head. People like you have ruined this state. I can only hope that if Newsom gets in, his socialist policies only affect people like you.

Interesting article about how Newsom was not always so liberal.
